Tweets confirm Canaries race is ready

By Paul Groves | 16 Jan, 2017

For many, the Canary Islands (Islas Canarias), have been a destination for all-year training. Situated in the Atlantic but 100k from the Moroccan coast, the temperatures are perfect for training, racing and relaxing. Not so far from anywhere in Europe, the location is perfect.

The Spanish Triathlon Federation (FETRI: Federación Española de Triatlón) will this year be hosting the first event of the season. Traditionally this has been the privilege of Quarteira and the Portuguese Triathlon Federation (Federação de Triatlo de Portugal) but 2017 will see the season extended by just one week with the new event in Las Palmas.

Las Palmas is tucked between the islands of Tenerife and Fuerteventura and on 26th March 2017 will be the venue to be for the first standard distance race of 2017.
