Europe Triathlon

Last week we informed you all about the wonderful news about the Havana Triathlon. As you may have seen from further publicity on the ITU pages, there was an important meeting last week in Madrid. Here is the press release we have been provided with from that meeting.

TRIATLÓN Y COOPERACIÓN INTERNACIONAL EN CUBA
El Triatlón de La Habana está en incluido en un proyecto muy amplio de cooperación internacional, donde el deporte no podía falta. El promotor de todo este proyecto escogió el Triatlón por las características del deporte y conseguir mostrar una de las ciudades más bella del mundo, donde miles de personas puedan disfrutar.

Nace con iniciativa 100% española, con acciones de cooperación con la sanidad, ayudando con materiales para reparación de centros de salud de la provincia de Artemisa, para círculos infantiles, hogares de ancianos, se realizan intercambios culturales y musicales, reparación de museos, cooperación en el transporte, colaboración en otros deportes además del triatlón; a la vez se realiza un homenaje a la causa de los 5. Un gran peso lo tiene en su semilla la Diputación Provincial de Huelva con su espíritu Iberoamericano.

Cuando este proyecto llega a la ITU el apoyo es total, comprendiendo los objetivos, muestran su satisfacción por incluir en una prueba deportiva aspectos culturales y solidarios. Desde entonces todo ha sido más fácil trabajando en conjunto, en pocos meses atrás han sido muchas personas no solo de España sino de otros países que han ofrecido su ayuda desinteresada en colaborar, por supuesto también instituciones como la Asociación Iberoamericana de Triatlón y prácticamente todas las federaciones, todos aportando el granito de arena para que sea un evento consolidado e inolvidable.

Se han realizado 3 actos públicos oficiales para dar a conocer este gran proyecto. El último de ello se realizó el pasado 5 de noviembre en Madrid en el Consejo Superior de Deportes donde asistieron José Carrasco director del proyecto y organizador, José Hidalgo presidente de la Federación Española y de la Iberoamericana, Ana Muñoz Directora General del Consejo Superior de Deportes, Marisol Casado Presidenta de la Federación Internacional y Eugenio Martinez Embajador de Cuba en España, todos expresaron su emoción por la calidad y características del proyecto, haciendo hincapié en los aspectos de colaboración y cooperación internacional, sin duda la majestuosa Habana se convertirá en un gran escaparate para el mundo entero los próximo 24 y 25 de enero. Un triatlón que nace con 4 años acordados, pero la intención de que perduré por muchos años.

TRIATHLON AND INTERNATIONAL COOPERTATION IN CUBA
Havana Triathlon is framed in a big project of International cooperation, in which Triathlon has to be included. The project promoter choose Triathlon base don the sport conditions and to show one of the most beatiful cities in the world, where thousands of people can enjoy.

The initiative is 100% Spanish and includes cooperation actions such as hospitals repairing materials in Artemisa province, children and old people houses, music and culture exchanges, transport cooperation, and in other sports besides Triathlon; in paralel it is paid a tribute to “Los 5”. Huelva provincial government and its Iberoamerican spirit carried most of the weight of this project.

When this project arrived to ITU the support received is total, understanding the goals and sharing the spirit of inclusion the cultural and solidarity actions in an sport event. Since that moment everything was easier: LOC and ITU are working together, and in the last months help was received from different people, not only from Spain, but from different Nations. They are offering their help not asking for anything in return and of course some institutions such as Iberoamerican Triathlon Association and almost all its NFs, giving a bit to the project, in order to create a consolidate and unforgetable event.

Up to now 3 actions happened to made this event known widely. Last one happened in Madrid, last November the 5th, hosted by the “Consejo Superior de Deportes” with the presence of Mr José Carrrasco, Project Manager, José Hidalgo FETRI and AIT, president, Ana Muñoz Sport Director General of Consejo Superior de Deportes, Marisol Casado ITU President and Eugenio Martinez, Cuban Ambassador in Madrid. All of them were very excited about the quality and the characteristics of the project, pointing its  cultural and cooperatiions faces. Without any doubt, the majestic Havana will be a great show next January 24th and 25th. A project which starts with 4 years horizon, but with a longer spirit.
